About the browser emulator
What is WASM Arcade?
WASM Arcade is a browser emulator for your own NES and GBA game files. Local play is free and needs no account. Try the original MIT-licensed Star Catch demo without supplying a ROM.
Does importing a game upload it?
Local import keeps the ROM in this browser. Optional cloud save sync and private game uploads are separate choices; signing in alone does not upload your ROMs.
How do I keep my progress?
Use local save slots and export important progress as a WASM Arcade JSON backup. Browser data can be cleared or evicted, as explained in MDN’s browser storage guide. Restore backups with the same game file and a compatible emulator version.
Can I play on my phone?
Touch controls support NES and GBA buttons. Compatibility and performance depend on the game, device and browser. Open the mobile guide for controls and orientation details.

What are the limits?
Local imports support files up to 64 MiB. Each game has 4 save slots: 1 automatic slot and 3 manual slots. Local autosave runs every 30 seconds while the game is open and the tab is visible. Optional cloud storage includes 256 MiB per account, with a 32 MiB limit per upload.
What powers the games?
WASM Arcade uses EmulatorJS 4.2.3 with the FCEUmm and mGBA cores. Read our credits and component licenses. Compatibility depends on the game, browser and device.
